10 years on and Niall Mackay is still coming to terms with the disappearance of his wife Christine. Their young "wild" 10 year old daughter knows little about her mother, who she is and more importantly where she is her father keeping her memory both physically and mentally locked away inside his own world.


The story unfolds in a rural village over a few weeks at the onset of the harsh highland winter. Amidst the growing darkness and shortening days, mysterious occurrences and accusative rumours lead to a thrilling unravelling of what really happened all those years ago.


Part ghost story, part thriller the author uses a mixture of short sentences and dialogue with references to everyday trivia to develop the characters in the stark banality of their rural existence.
