A large Scottish Victorian Penannular Brooch
An exceptional and large late Victorian silver Scottish with polished hard stone and agate segments on silver and decorated with foil backed paste stones. The reverse is plain except at the ends of the torc which are flat with engraved celtic pattern. The top of the pin represents a stylised thistle flower.

This Penannular style brooch is fitted with a silver pin which slides around the outer gallery so that it can be pinned in different ways. This type of brooch is generally worn to fasten a plaid or cloak.
Many Victorian jewellery pieces were not hallmarked and that is the case with this brooch.

Generally in good condition for its age with no obvious defects.
This is a second hand antique jewellery piece and will have some imperfections. Antique jewellery was primarily hand crafted(modern jewellery is more often than not cast made). They are therefore unique pieces.
