A rare late 18th Century provincial Scottish turned laburnum wood twin lug quaich.
Laburnum wood was commonly used in the 18th century in Scotland for cabinet making but also for Quaich making. After being dried and seasoned it becomes darker and darker, and when polished, can become a dark chocolate brown colour like this one
This Quaich is very much for the collector.

The word Quaich comes form the Gaelic word "cuach" (cup or bowl). It is often referred to as a friendship or love cup generally with two handles although 3 or 4 handle quaiches have been made. Sharing the cup demonstrates a trust between 2 individuals or groups of people. You can fill the cup with a drink of your choice however it is usually whisky.
