Originally published in 1862 this 2nd edition included a significant addition of new material and images. The book is devoted to the history of Biggar, a town and former burgh in South Lanarkshire. It begins with a chapter on prehistory and then local Druid and Roman history and then the emergence of the burgh town and finishing with chapters on the important local family - The Flemings.
Condition Notes
This is a large volume with strong cover boards protecting the book. There is some rubbing and light staining of the front cover board as well as some bumping at the corners. The central gilt coat of arms remains bright. The inside pages are bright and clean throughout with no significant defects.
