    William Dixon Cocker was born in1882 in Drumbeg Cottage in Rutherglen. Cocker left school by the age of thirteen, at his own request, and started work in his father’s business; at twenty-three he went to the accounts department of Glasgow’s Daily Record, and continued to work for that paper and the Evening News for over fifty years.

    His poetry can be described as sympathetic with the humorous.

    A good copy with an original dustcover with some light fraying around the edges. Inside the pages are bright and clean throughout. There is a previous owner dedicace and date in ink on the inside end-paper.
