Finavon Castle lies on the River South Esk, about a quarter of a mile south of Milton of Finavon village and five miles to the north-east of Forfar in Angus. The estate was the property of the Lindsay Earls of Crawford then in In 1843 the Castle was bought by Thomas Gardyne of Middleton.
The author of this poem recounting the key moments in the castle's history was the Hon. Amelia Anne Greenhill-Gardyne (née Gardyne) (1836-1912) a writer and wife of Charles Greenhill (later Greenhill-Gardyne); daughter of 9th Viscount Strathallan.
Condition Notes
This copy - there are very few available - has suffered some damage to the cover boards with some heavy staining and fading. The spine cover has been completely lost.
Fortunately the inside pages remain in good condition and so the book has its merits and remains usable.
