    James Stout Angus(1830-1923) began to publish poetry in the 1870s writing mainly in the shetland dialect.

     Echoes from Klingrahoul first published in 1920 contains poems in both English and Shetland dialect and includes his poem ‘Eels’, the first Shetland dialect poem and first published in 1877.

    This book also has a Shetland-English glossary.
