Stuart Petre Brodie Mais(1875-1975) was an author & journalist. In this book he recounts his return to Scotland after an absence of 6 years due to the second World War.
In his introduction he writes:
"For six years we had to forego our annual visit to Scotland. We had six years' leeway of enchantment to make up. We had no desire to see anything new. All we wanted was to stand where we had stood of old, meet again the friends from whom we had been too long parted, and recapture an old rapture..."
There are chapters on Perthshire, Deeside, Etive, Skye, Outer Hebrides, Orkney, Shetland, Edinburgh & Glasgow.
There are 15 black and white photographic plates and a series of hand drawn maps.
Condition Notes
In good overall condition
The red cover boards are generally in good condition with some minor scuff marks. There is some fading of the gilt titles on the Spine.
There are some messages, dates & signatures of previous owners on the title page - one is quite large - but they all add to the authenticity of the book.
The inside pages are clean and bright and remain tightly bound.
