Synopsis
John Maclean (24 August 1879 – 30 November 1923) was the pioneer of Marxism in Scotland and regarded as a key revolutionary leader both Lenin and the British Governement at the time. He was twice condemned to penal servitude and twice released under popular pressure.
This biography written by his daughter and published in 1973 was based on memoirs and notes she made back in the late 1930's drawing on details provided by Maclean's closest allies and friends, notably James D MacDougal known as "Maclean's First Lieutenant.
