    James Hedderwick, LL.D., of Rockland, East Clyde Street was best known for owning the paper "Weekly Citizen" which in 1864 he turned  into the "Evening Citizen," the city’s first evening paper, on sale at half a pence.

    He published  “Lays of Middle Age” in 1859 which was republished in 1889 (this edition). The work comprises a thought provoking series of 55 short poems,  often referred to as his "criticism of life."

     

  • Condition Notes

    A very unusual binding in suede leather which is in very good condition with embossed titles on the front. The inside pages are bright and clean throughout. A fine book.
