The author of the famous "legend of St Swithin" George Davidson hailed from Aberdeen where he worked as a bookseller and was distinguished for his literary knowledge and prowess in conversation.
His most famous poem was first published as a broadsheet and then with Mr Faed's illustrations in 1861.
The author places St Swithin at the Blairs seminary on the right bank of the Dee about six miles from Aberdeen.
Condition Notes
This scarece book has some waer and tear to the card cover and some looseness to the binding but overall is in good condition and remains an intriguing publication.
