  • Additional Product Information

This series of Scottish Poetry was published by D. H. Edwards of Brechin between 1880 and 1897 when Edwards was owner and author of the "Brechin Advertiser".

Edward's first publication of collected Poetry was called "One hundred modern Scottish poets" and was met with "favourable criticism and public appreciation". Emboldened he decided to continue the project and over the next 17 years produced 16 volumes dedicated to Scottish Poets. Each edition averaged about 400 pages with 100 poets each providing at least 3 poems. There is a biographical sketch of each Poet providing a valuable resource for many of these lesser known local poets.
