Additional Product Information
This magnificent full leather bound publication was compiled by the Reverend Macleod, one of Queen Victoria's chaplains and evokes the inspiration the Highland scenery provided to both the Monarch and her entourage.
The 15 large sepia photogaphs are of engravings of notable highland landscapes commissioned specially from the artist Joseph Adam (Scottish-1819-1886) to accompany the book.
It is uncertain how many copies were actually produced but given the size, expense and its distribution it seems it would have been a limited number.
This is an extremely large book - height 50.5 cm, width 39 cm and weighs over 4.5 kg. Please see shipping notice.
Condition Notes
This is a superb Victorian book where no expense has been spared in its production.
There are some minor bruises on the front leather cover and some light scuffing of the gilt embellishments.
The inside pages remain clean and bright despite some foxing throughout especially on the title pages. There is a also an old water stain at the bottom of some of the pages but does not detract from the overall aesthetic pleasure of the work.
Please check the images associated with this Book to gain a clear insight into the book's condition and if you require further details please send an email enquiry.
