Robert Dunn was a Hull taxidermist and natural history dealer and visited the Orkney and Shetland in the years 1831-35. This volume, published privately to his subscribers, details the bird species he encountered.
The author describes himself as an "animal preserver" - ecology was seen in very different terms nearly 2 centuries ago.
Condition Notes
This extremely rare volume from 1837 is in excellent condition and remains tightly bound. Originally publised by the author there are different lay outs and bindings on each edition.
This quarto edition has clean Buckram fabric boards. The Title label on the spine has some fading and tearing.
The inside pages are bright and clean and 2 fold out maps of the Shetland & Orkney Isles are present at the back of the book.
