This Volume is an original Bannatyne Publication:
The Bannatyne Club was a text publication society founded in 1823 by Sir Walter Scott and other Scottish literary and historical enthusiasts. It was named in honour of George Bannatyne and his famous anthology of Scots literature the Bannatyne Manuscript. The club aimed to print rare works of Scottish interest, whether in history, poetry, or general literature. The club had 116 members, who each paid an annual subscription fee and received copies of the club’s publications. The club produced 116 volumes between 1823 and 1861, when it was dissolved after the death of its last secretary, David Laing
Condition Notes
This is a well preserved half leather bound publication with marbled covers and marbled inside end-papers. There is some rubbing of the leather around the edges and at the corners and some fading of the marble paper but overall the binding is excellent and tight. The inside pages are bright and cleran throughout.
