Inspired by Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe (published 1719) Ballantyne wrote and published in 1857 one of the first novels to feature Children as main protagonists where three boys find themselves marooned on a fictitious south Pacific Island Island and the novel soon became a classic for school children in the early 20th century. It's themes would later be an inspiration for William Golding's Lord of the Flies.
Condition Notes
A fine edition with light canvas covered cover boards which remain bright and clean. The inside pages have age-related tanning throughout. A fantastic copy of an early 20th century children's edition.
