    The Palaeogene Ardnamurchan igneous centre in NW Scotland, has been a defining place for the development of classic concepts of cone- sheet, ring-dyke, and dyke emplacement. It holds an iconic status among geologists and has fundamentally influenced the understanding of subvolcanic structures.

     

    An accomplished Geologist and natural scientist, James Ernest Richey was originally from County Tyrone and after  graduating from Trinity College, Dublin with a B.A. in Natural Science in 1908, went on to Oxford before he was appointed to the staff of the Geological Survey in Edinburgh and joining the West of Scotland unit in 1911.

  • Condition Notes

    Generally in good condition - there is some damage to the spine with some loss at the top of the spine however the overall binding remains in very good condition. The inside pages are bright and clean throughout with just the usual age-related tanning of the paper.
