Major-General Sir Thomas Munro KCB (1761 – 1827) was a British soldier & colonial administrator who served as an East India Company Army officer and Governor.
Munro was born in Glasgow on 27 May 1761 to the Glaswegian merchant Alexander Munro and was educated at Glasgow University.
In 1819, he was appointed governor of Madras, India.
Condition Notes
Beautiful full leather bindings with gilt titles and Vignettes. Both volumes remain well bound:
Volume 1 - Bruising at the top of the spine and some splitting from the front cover board. Stain on the leather on the front cover board. Loss of gilt titles on the spine. Marbled end papers. Some spotting throughout out.
Volume 2 - Some splitting of the spine and front cover board. Loss of gilt titles on the spine. Marbled end papers. Pull out map of India in good condition.
The inside pages on both volumes arw bright and clean with just some light spotting and age-related tanning.
