Synopsis
Charles Malcolm first published "The Piper in Peace and War" in 1927 after the end of the First World War, a conflict where over one thousand Pipers had fallen. Deeply affected by the horrendous casualties, this book is in part a tribute to their memory.
The author first gives a summary of Pipe history and then takes the Scottish Regiments one by one and shows how deeply they have entered into regimental life. There is also an account of Irish, overseas and naval Pipers.
