Hector Macneill (1746-1818) originally from Rosebank in Midlothian was an ambiguous man - poet, soldier and administrator in the West Indies.
This pocket edition includes his better known poems including Scotland's Scaith and the plaid among the heather.
Condition Notes
A fine pocket edition from the mid 19th century - small and light to carry around and so enjoy the author's fine lyricism.
The cover boards are clean with bright gilt titles and design on the spine.
A bookplate has been present and its removal has left some tears on the front end paper. There is also the previous owner name and comments in ink.
The inside pages are clean and bright wth aged-tanning throughout.
