Alexander Penrose Forbes (1817-1875) was born at Edinburgh and became known as the first Tractarian Bishop when he was consecrated Bishop of Brechin in the Scottish Episcopal C hurch in 1847.
This is his short novella set in the little town of Craigmacaire which occupied "a sandy break in the rock-girt eastern coast of Scotland" and the aftermath of the battle of Culloden and the hunting down of the defeated Jacobite army.
Condition Notes
This is a small 70 page booklet in good overall condition. There is a slice of the front end-paper that has been cut away - probably to remove a previous owner's name but otherwise a very usable copy of this rare book.
