This is an attempt to provide a genealogical history of Scotland throught its Clan and family names.
The work comprises 3 large volumes:
Volume I - Deals with names from ABE-CUR - it includes a Preface. It includes 7 engraved portraits. 4 tables of Titular genealogies of ancient Earldoms - Angus, Athol, Buchan and Caithness, and 1 tbale of Ancient Baronage - Campbell. There are a further 91 woodcut portraits (in letterpress print)
Volume II - Deals with names from DAL-MAC - There are no illustartion details for this volume - this seems to be the case in all copies and is therefore to be considered an original omission. Here is a summary count:
There are 5 engraved portraits. 2 tables of Titular genealogies of Earldoms - Fife and Lennox. There are a further approx 50 woodcut portraits (in letterpress print)
Volume III - Deals with names from MAC-ZET - It includes 7 engraved portraits. 4 tables of Titular genealogies of Earldoms - Mar, Menteth, Strathern and Moray. There are a further 64 woodcut portraits (in letterpress print)
Condition Notes
These are 3 very well bound books in excellent condition. As seen in the images the spines are well preserved with buckram cloth. There is some gentle fraying around the edges of the boards and at the corners and some light scuffing due to rubbing of the surface of the marbled paper.
Inside all three columes remain tight and the text pages bright and clean throughout.
