    Henry Mackenzie  (1745 –183) was born and died in Edinburgh and trained as a lawyer but later was a novelist and journalist. He is buried at Greyfriars Kirkyard, Edinburgh.

    The 8 volumes contain his complete works and include:

    His novels:

    - The Man of Feeling (1771)

    - The Man of the World (1773)

    - Julia de Roubigné (1777)

    His Plays:

    - The Prince of Tunis (a tragedy, 1773)

    - The Spanish Father (a tragedy, 1775

    - The White Hypocrite (a comedy, 1789)

    As well as essays, journalism & correspondence.

     

  • Condition Notes

    These are 8 full leather bound volumes in Duodecimo format (Height 18.5cm). Each volume has marbled end papers. There is rubbing and general wear and tear of the leather cover boards commensurate with age. There is some loss of top leather around the spine on volumes 4 & 7 - see images.

    The inside pages remain in very good condition - bright and clean - with just light age-related tanning.

    Overall very good condition.
