Sir Ian Standish Monteith Hamilton was  a career officer in the British Imperial army during the Victorian & Edwardian periods fighting in the Afghan campaigns, the Boer Wars, First World War(Gallipoli campaign). He was born in 1853 in Hafton on the Holy Loch and this autobiography traces in boyhood.
